The concept art that I drew for the Celestial Emissary
The very rough proxy model for the Celestial Emissary, to block out proportions.
a side profile of the blockout.
the backside of the blockout.
The True proxy of the model. Created using Maya.
The first skull that I sculpted in ZBrush and I would later use it for the heads on the Celestial Emissary.
The sculpting process began for the various parts of the model.
The 2 chest pieces were of some importance, being the largest aspects of the creature.
The arms are meant to show off how bizarre the creature's anatomy is, let alone the number of arms that it has.
I placed placeholder materials on the model to get a look for the color and shading.
After exporting the various pieces of the body to Substance painter I brought everything back into Maya and rendered them in arnold.
I worked with Arnold open while I adjusted the AIShaders in Maya so that I could get an accurate depiction of the model.
I wanted to make sure that the lighting of the scene was bright enough that I could see the details
But that the scene was dark enough to feel intimidating and mysterious to the viewer.
